Vascular Surgeon Dr. Alan Benvenisty

Education, Achievements and Affiliations

Dr. Alan I. Benvenisty graduated as Valedictorian with summa cum laude honors from Union College in Schenectady, New York. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, he attended the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, where he remained to complete his internship and residency in General Surgery. Selected as “Super-Chief,” he completed his Fellowship in Vascular and Transplant Surgery and was invited to join the staff at The Presbyterian Hospital. During his eighteen-year tenure, he became a respected member of the Faculty of the College of Physicians and Surgeons and was later promoted to Professor of Clinical Surgery. Dr. Benvenisty currently remains in this position.

As a proven leader and distinguished member of numerous surgical societies, including the Past President of the New York Society for Vascular Surgery, Dr. Benvenisty is one of a handful of prominent vascular surgeons in the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. He is also a dedicated teacher of residents and students and sits as the Director of the Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai West Surgical clerkship for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Recognized by Castle Connolly as one of New York’s and America’s Top Doctors, Dr. Benvensity’s contribution and work with local patients has been presented in numerous newspaper articles and featured on 20/20.

Dr. Benvenisty operates out of The Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai St. Luke’s, and Mount Sinai West and he leads the non-invasive vascular laboratory at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s.
